Welcome to our Mount Royal 50th Celebration website.
My name is Dean Newton and I'm proud to be the Principal of this great learning community. Mount Royal has a rich tradition. It was built in 1961. In 1967 it became one of the comprehensive collegiates in Saskatchewan and received a 2.6 million dollar addition for trades-related shops and classrooms. In 2007, the provincial government announced 17 million dollars in funding for renovations at Mount Royal Collegiate including the development of post-secondary programming at Mount Royal, a cultural centre and a demonstration daycare. In 2009, funding from the provincial and federal governments was announced for additional renovations and the construction of a free standing hanger building. No area of the building has been left untouched. Today Mount Royal is a state-of-the-art facility with unique, innovative academic and trades-related programs which offer a world of opportunity for all students.
On behalf of the staff, students, our partners and members of the 50th Celebration Organizing Committee I invite you to attend our Celebration on Saturday, September 25, 2010. Take a walk down memory lane, visit with former classmates, learn about our programs, see our newly renovated facility, experience our diversity and celebrate 50 years of academic excellence. Please take a minute to RSVP on this website and explore it further to learn more about Mount Royal and the events scheduled for the day: tours, formal program, refreshments, displays from each decade, commemorative book, Mustang Car show, and more. We look forward to seeing you.
